BrokerTeam Insurance, founded in 2005, has grown from a five-partner startup into one of Ontario’s most diverse and fastest-growing brokerages. The team serves clients across personal and commercial lines and will soon open a new life insurance and Benefits division. Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary, the brokerage recognized the need for a modern, integrated brokerage management system (BMS) to support its next decade of growth and innovation.

Integrated automation that frees staff to focus on what matters most

BrokerTeam chose to migrate from Applied TAM to Applied Epic due to its powerful, integrated automation capabilities. Previously, the brokerage had to develop and maintain its own internal tools to fill functional gaps, which consumed a significant amount of time and resources. “We used to hire people to build bots that imported GL policy information into our BMS to keep up with the large volume of transactions we handled. With Applied Epic, it all happens automatically,” Andy Leung explained.

Now, policy data flows seamlessly from carriers via direct feeds, CSIO eDocs, or document capture directly into Applied Epic, populating policy numbers, coverage details, limits, effective dates, and endorsements instantly.

Partnering with Applied Systems to empower staff and simplify implementation

Migrating from Applied TAM to Applied Epic was a major change for BrokerTeam, and the brokerage recognized that successful implementation required active staff engagement and thoughtful change management.

To ensure a smooth transition, BrokerTeam held bi-weekly discussions with staff, allowing everyone to voice concerns and offer input before implementation. Staff were also invited to join implementation teams, which provided them with hands-on experience with Applied Epic and helped them fully understand the system. Andy noted, “When people understand the system and its features, they feel a sense of ownership. They can use the system effectively and even train new staff in the future.”

The Applied Systems team played a critical role in guiding BrokerTeam through the migration process by providing step-by-step support tailored to their organizational structure.
