Ivans Index November 2022 Results Released

Average premium renewal rates for nearly all major commercial lines of business remain up year over year while month-over-month rates experience continued variability

TAMPA, Fla. – December 15, 2022 - Ivans® today announced the November 2022 results of the Ivans Index™, the insurance industry’s premium renewal rate index. Year over year, all lines of business, except Workers’ Compensation, experienced an increase in average premium renewal rate. Business Owners Policy (BOP) and Commercial Property remain the highest premium renewal rate increases year over year. Month over month, Commercial Auto, General Liability, Commercial Property and Umbrella saw increases in premium renewal rate change, while BOP and Workers' Compensation experienced decreases.

Premium renewal rate change by line of business for November 2022 highlights include:

  • Commercial Auto: 5.62%, up from 5.12% last month.
  • BOP: 6.66%, down from 7.15%, at the end of October.
  • General Liability: 5.51%, up from 5.24% the month prior.
  • Commercial Property: 7.92%, up from 7.55% in October.
  • Umbrella: 5.04%, up from 4.44% the month prior.
  • Workers’ Compensation: -1.77%, down from -1.01% last month.
